Lou Sarlo Sr. founded the company in 1979 as Sarlo Certified Welding, beginning with a focus on precision welding and a commitment to dependable craftsmanship.
As the company’s reputation grew, so did its capabilities. In 1983, Sarlo constructed its first gas station canopy in New Castle, Delaware, a defining project that helped set the direction for the business that followed. By 1985, growing demand led to the formation of SARLO Corporation and an expanded focus on service station canopy construction and related services.
For nearly five decades, Lou’s dedication to his customers, vendors and employees helped shape the company and the reputation behind the SARLO name. His standards for workmanship, dependability and character remain part of the company today.

Lou built SARLO Corporation around a simple belief: the quality of the company should be measured by both its work and its character. 1979
Founding of Sarlo Certified Welding
Lou Sarlo Sr. establishes Sarlo Certified Welding with a focus on precision welding, craftsmanship and dependable service.
1983
First Sarlo Gas Station Canopy
The company constructs its first gas station canopy in New Castle, Delaware, marking an important shift toward specialized canopy construction.
1985
Founding of SARLO Corporation
SARLO Corporation is born and expands its capabilities into service station canopy construction, signage, facades, and rebranding.
2026
SARLO Corporation Continues
The original SARLO Corporation remains operational – continuing to build canopies, serving customers and carrying forward Lou Sarlo Sr.’s legacy.
